First District RESA will be receiving funds for HB763 Mental Health Awareness Training. The
funds will be limited in scope and the training options must fall under the GaDOE guidelines.
School Superintendents have been asked to designate a central office staff member to be the
liaison between the school district and the First District RESA School Climate/PBIS Department.
A meeting will be set up soon to discuss the format to schedule training. The training topics
must fall under the Training Menu designed by the Georgia Department of Education and the
Georgia National Alliance on Mental Illness. The trainings include: Ending the Silence for
School Staff, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Adult Mental Health First Aid, and Trauma
101/Brain 101/Trauma 101 for School Professionals, QPR – Question, Persuade, Refer,
ASIST – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training and Youth in Crisis (SRO). The school
district can use the funds as a district or a school site. First District RESA will continue to offer
the trainings that are already listed on the Safe, Healthy, and Supportive Schools Program
Training Calendar. In addition there might be additional regional trainings coordinated with
systems with some of the funds.
